Somalia President returns to Mogadishu as insurgent retreats
Fri. April 27, 2007 08:59 am.- By Mohamed Abdi Farah. -

(SomaliNet) Somalia’s interim president Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed has secretly returned to the Somalia capital Mogadishu on Friday after Premier Gedi claimed victory over the local insurgents.

President Yusuf has been away from the capital during the clashes between the Ethiopian forces and insurgents.

Sources did not mention where Mr. Yusuf and his entourage came from.

His return came as Mogadishu remains calm with the government troops along with the Ethiopian forces involve in operations cleansing the defeated insurgents from the capital.

Earlier, Mr. Yusuf said his government was determined to crush the remnants of the ousted Islamists in Somalia.
