Premier League: Cech commits himself at Chelsea until 2013 Mon. July 21, 2008 05:33 am.- By Bonny Apunyu. - (SomaliNet) Committing himself to the club until 2013,Petr Cech has signed a new five-year at Chelsea. The Czech international, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Rennes in 2004, said he was thrilled with his new contract - details of which were announced as Chelsea embarked on a pre-season tour of China. "It is an honour to be at a club like Chelsea and I am very happy to have renewed my contract with them. "Chelsea have grown in my heart, not just because of my team-mates and all the people that work for the club, but also because of their fantastic fans. "I gave my first interview when I arrived in 2004 and I said that it had been my dream to play for one of the best clubs in the world, in one of the best leagues in the world. "It came true and I cannot wait for the new season to start." Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari said he was extremely satisfied with the news and heaped praise on a player he rates in the highest regard. "I am delighted that Petr has signed a new contract," he said. "In my view he is the best goalkeeper in the world so naturally we are very happy he has committed his long-term future to us." Chairman Peter Kenyon echoed his sentiment. "He (Cech) has been a key player in the club's success in the last four years. "He has also shown himself throughout this time to be a top professional and is a great ambassador for the club on and off the field." The 26-year-old Cech has made 166 appearances for Chelsea, keeping 90 clean sheets in the process.
