I was under the false impression this conflict was about ideology. But as I see now, with the ICU fighting in Darood towns to avoid Hawiye dying, and the elation with which the ICU defeat was greeted here by many Darood factions (and other clans as well), that this is, indeed, ALLLL about qabiil. Lesson learned. From now on, classify me as JAFO (Just Another F'ucking Observer).

Ultimately anyone who departs to kismayo and leaves Mogadishu disgraced will depart for good and never to return to capital. Kenya closed its border, 9th fleet is in Indian Ocean and the Federal troops are advancing from three directions. The remnants of the union must accept amnesty, and this logic of saving Mogadishu is based on clan thinking-saving infrastructure and wealth of their cousins.

First you have to put in mind somalinet hardly represents somali opinion.
Most in these forums are secular, alcoholics, drug addicts and social misfits. They will be not be accepted in any other somali site.
They desperately use qabiil to destroy ICU.
They pose as majerten, Mareehan, Daroods, etc and opose the Islamic courts.
It is likely they don't even belong to those clans. The real hate is towards Sharia law but only use qabiil as excuse. The warlords desperately tried to do the same thing. They lost.
If all ICU leaders were from their clan, they would still oppose them with another excuse.
There is hardly a top UIC official from my clan. Actually the war is religious.But they bring qabiil in to spoil for the ICU. They were almost losing but Ethiopia came to their rescue which I hope will not last long.

The die hard TFG supporters here are not many. Some are related to top TFG officials.
Some one who does not tolerate other somalis cannot tolerate foreigners.
Charity starts at home(somali).

Interesting points. I had the same suspicion's, which is why I chose the option of being JAFO for now. Personally, I still side with the ICU over the treacherous and traitorous bunch from the "government".
