Dear Somalilanders in the Diaspora

On behalf of the elected Somaliland Parliament and the peace loving Somaliland people, we would like to express our profound gratitude for the nationalism and responsibility you have shown in respect to the large heroic demonstration displayed in Europe, Australia and other countries by the Somalilanders for our quest to independence and recognition of our beloved country. Your continuous support and sacrifice is unsurpassable despite the difficulty conditions you live in.

The show of support in the U.K, Norway, Australia and other countries are landmarks and we encourage Somalialanders in other countries to follow suit if permissible.

Justice has played very little role in Somaliland’s recognition and development, though the country has fulfilled all the requirement of international law for statehood, i.e. Montevideo convention on the right and duties of states Dec, 26, 1934

"The state as person of international law should possess the following qualification".

a) A permanent population.

b) A defined territory.

c) Government.

d) Capacity to inter relations with other states or countries.

We fulfilled all above requirements

We share with you the sense of disappointment with those who pay lip service to the democratic principles and have ignored Somaliland’s repeated pleas for nationhood.

Somalilanders have chosen the right path of democracy in a very rough and dangerous terrain. Our determination for recognition will not be tempered with or curtailed by any government, group, individuals, Jealousy, bias or prejudices and we will not be deferred from our long march to full independence.

It is undeniable that we have our own setbacks, but together we shall overcome the hurdles and Somaliland will prevail.

Once again we say "KUDS" to Somalilanders in the Diaspora and we encourage similar events arranged in all over the world,

We register here our appreciation and gratitude for your continuous support.

Long live Somaliland.

Parliament Committee for Foreign Affairs, International Relationship and National Planning.
