[quote="Salah Al-Din"]Assalaamu Alaikum,

Deer, please don't confuse Capitalism and Christianity. When Christianity was practiced in the world, we had the dark ages; conversely when Islam was practiced in the world we had the renaissance.

Eastern Ortodoxy established by Constantine: AD 325, giving rise to the Byzantine Empire, which survived until it was taken by the Ottoman Turks in 1453. Hagia Sophia is actually Sancta Sophia.

The European Rennasaissance: AD 1330-1550

Jews expelled from Spain: AD 1492

Muslims expelled from Spain: AD 1502:

Beginning of the Colonial Period

Edit: The "Dark Ages" refers to the period between the fall of Rome in the Fifth Century and the reestablishment of social order about the year AD 1000. It corresponds to the movement of Germanic tribes into Britain and the western Roman Empire and the consequent destruction of the central authority. It was a period in which Islam was growing to it's height and Roman civilization and power was at it's nadir. The Crusades represent the resurgence of European power and the beginning of the Rennaisance.
