Re: Traditional Somali Dances
This type of dance is called "Shoba" and it's exclusive for Baidoa, it's one of the best and sexiest (when dancing in a more suitable environment) dances in the raxanweyn nation.

I think that's the type of dance performance that were given to Suldaan Kenadiid by his Hobyo-Hutu slaves, no?

Ashlee,
Why do you have to use two nicks and then sign the other one with -ash-?

Ok, waa ku dhaafay.
LadyQac,
Waa lagaa qaaday ugaaso, did you got back from your honeymoon?
Btw, notice the difference between Southern and Northern dances. The Northern dance assimilates war, it's so tight, no dabacsanaan at all, and they are all yelling unintelligible lyrics, there is no sense of direction, everyone is swirling according to his whim, basically, you wouldn't know if they are fighting or dancing.
The Southern dance has an aura of calmness, it has a rythm and they go with the beat, there is a sense of serenity an you enjoy watching it over and over

Re: Traditional Somali Dances
I and several of my classmates performed that same dance for cultural festivity night in my high years.

3) Dhaanto

Re: Traditional Somali Dances
That is the most annoying dance ever.
Personally I like the dhaanto, walasaqo, goobile, the one dhullo/isaq do up north hooy hooy something, and shammal.
