The J-10 is one beast of a plane. Those who say that it is a 80s technology obviously have no idea of what they are talking about. The J-10 has been developed to replace the Russian jets in the PLAAF and is touted as the future main-strike air-craft of the People’s Air Force. It has the ability to out-maneuver advanced American jets such as the F-18 and easily surpasses the current F-16, itself the most successful air-craft ever developed. Furthermore, the aircraft employs a high degree of composite materials which gives it a certain degree of stealth capability. In addition, with 11 hard-points the aircraft has the potential to be a great strike fighter. Also, it uses thrust vectoring technology which will give it the upper-hand when engaging in dog-fights and as a result comes off as a superb point defense air craft.

Furthermore, the aircraft has been a top secret project till a couple years ago with only the Pakistan Air force and the Chinese air force knowing the existence of the project. In addition, any exports of the air craft have to wait till the Pakistani air force and the PLAAF get their orders as they are the makers of the air craft. Reports of the Iranians buying the J-10 are baseless and even the Chinese have denied the reports. (http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/10/ ... r-Jets.php).

I'm not saying he got it right or wrong, necessarily....but I find this quote interesting considering Israeli co-developed technology is in that Iranian fighter..what I'm saying is that I was reminded of this quote when technology co-developed by the US/Israel eventually finds its way into the hands of their sworn enemy by the principles of capitalism and the strong desire to make a profit.

BTW, I wouldn't count Communism out just yet.....look at China virtually re-packaging capitalism and having tremendous financial success. Here's a quote from Molotov a few decades ago where he said the Chinese were the only ppl who kept the spirit of Communism alive:

"There's no revolutionary spirit around nowadays, just opportunism everywhere. China's our only hope! Only they have kept alive the revolutionary spirit"

Given the choice, would you order a fleet of F-16's, or J-10 's? I thought so. I rest my case. Cool

It is big lie that Israel co-developed the J-10 based on the failed Lavi. The J-10 was pretty much in the cards around the early 1970s almost a decade and half before Israel ever thought about developing the Lavi.

i would certainly take J-10. The F-16 is past its prime, and even Lockhead martin has stopped making the air craft. The most capable F-16 especially the block 52++ and the Block 60s are pretty much as capable as the J-10. but, the J-10 has alot of room for improvement and already a super J-10 is being developed as we speak. The J-10 is an exceptional investment. Nevetheless, only Pakistan and the Chinese Air forces will have it before any exports are allowed since they are the ones making the jet!

Megatron,

I would by planes that can outmatch my neighbors.

Better training is always what makes the difference. A poorly trained pilot with the best plane is not going to perform well.

Man, have you got that right!!!!

The Ethiopians should buy themselves some prop driven aircraft with trainer models and trainers. Prop driven aircraft are excellent for ground attack, have far lower fuel consumption levels making it easier to afford to properly train pilots. Buying SU 27 and the like are a waste of resources.
