Bipolar disorder among somali's
Bipolar disorder is not a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders defined by the presence of one or more episodes of abnormally elevated mood, clinically referred to as mania. Individuals who experience manic episodes also commonly experience depressive episodes or symptoms, or mixed episodes which present with features of both mania and depression.
It seems to me somali's not only in this forum but even back home suffer from this disorder and don't seek treatment. Look at some of the warlords like mohhamed dheere and others these guys seem like they have serious mental issues and I'm starting to think it's a genetical disorder among the somali people.

MjPride such is the mentality of ibn Ubayy, the biggest Hypocrite in Islam, who so chanced at every supportive occasion to whisper to the Convert Helpers, the Ansar Al Musliim of Madiina, the blessed Tribes of Aws and Khasraj, "oo ye Aws and Khasraj, sons of Qaylah, allow an exile of Mecca, expelled by his own people to come and rule ye in your houses, in this garden of the Desert, this oasis of Yathrib".
So you my brother I fear for you wallahi, I fear for your soul and I would hope Allah (SWT) calls you unto His path as He has done to I
If allah (SWT) had called upon the Cayr as a clan to bring back the rule of Islam in this land, than to them am I their companion, their brother, their friend, and inshallah their peer in Paradise!

Qansa
I don't believe in medicating people unless it's truly serious, personally think all those therapists/psychiatrist are a useless who peddel pharmaceutical drugs to make money and keep people coming back for more. The real treatment would be talking to people in your family. That's probably the best drug out there.
Of course there are other serious problems that probably will require some form of drugs, but other than those, no one should be medicated.
Screw
Don't know who lionheart is..

Re: Bipolar disorder among somali's
most if not all warlords in somalia are mentally unstable
Re: Bipolar disorder among somali's
" The real treatment would be talking to people in your family"
they need to be trained to understand what the problem you are talking about is and to be able to listen and offer help.
I doubt most of us stop and listen lol
That is why you need to be a trained therapist to give help and for your advice to make a difference
Extreme situation will need some form of medication, But you are right I dont think most of us pay attention to mental illness and depression!
