Erigavo(QARAN)-The Somaliland Defence Force assisted by the leaders of the Sanaag regional authority have freed a German citizen who was allegedly held against his will by unknown parties on Tuesday in Rugay,Sanaag.

The Somaliland government and the regional authority in Sanaag had called for an immediate resolution to the situation, which had resulted in the release of the man and the capture of the suspects allegedly behind the abduction.

The German citizen was freed last night after joint operation between the Somaliland Defence Forces and the regional law enforcement. The allegedly captured German citizen had been safely returned to Erigavo, meanwhile, the search continues for any of the alleged perpetrators who haven't already being caught.

As a result of this episode, the Somaliland Defence Forces have been put on high alert across the entire eastern border with Somalia.
