Somali Crisis

Post by surria »

It is known that the worst humanitarian crisis in Africa is in Somalia, not Darfur.
There are more than 200.000 people displaced and crammed into swelling camps that are rapidly running out of water.
The country has higher malnutrition rates, more current bloodshed and fewer aid workers than Darfur, which is often publicized as the world's most pressing humanitarian crisis.

Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, the top UN official for Somalia stated that " the situation in Somalia is the worst on the continent."

the situation includes floods, droughts, locusts, roadside bombs and near-dailly assassinations.

Pirates attack aid ships such as the one carrying UN food, making it impossible to get the food to people who really needed.

Every country from, Myanmar to the DRC, there are organizations that are devoting their lives to helping the people. Also, the people of the nations mentioned, for example, Sudan, DRC, Myanmar, etc are all helped with immigration, while our people are dying in the seas...Somalia is not even listed as source country when it comes to the recognition of countries that are in civil war and their ppl need protection. This makes many Somalis unable to get sponsorship or accepted as legitimate refugees. However, as we are resourceful ppl, we tent to find our own way of getting to the destinations we desire, without the help of any organization:)

So, my question to you guys is what do you think is the reason behind why the world has turned its back on Somalia?
Do you think that more could have been done for the Somalis in Somalia?

BTW, I hate dayniile, they show the worst pics of ppl suffering.

The world hasn't turned there back on us.

They fund the TFG and Ethiopians who do all of this. They are very much involved.
