The greatest moment in the history of world football

Post by Jam Street »

“The game is on the line, everyone knows where the ball is going to end up and there is nothing anyone else on the other team can do about it—that is the mark of greatness” Reggie Miller

Rivaldo is the most underrated footballer ever. This is a player who played the game at a time when there were maybe 2 or 3 players (Zidane, and Ronaldo) that can be said are among the top 5 greatest footballers ever. And as someone who had the privilege to be around and watch (not highlights but full games) all of them play the game; I can say with supreme conviction that he is the best footballer I have ever seen. You can’t imagine the number of games I watched him carry a star-studded Barcelona team on his back single-handedly. Ronaldo or Zidane or Ronaldinho never did what I have seen Rivaldo do more than once. He truly is the everlasting saviour of Barcelona.

He was the best set piece player ever and the best shooter and while some Brazilian footballer invented the bicycle kick, Rivaldo took it to a level never seen before and possibly one that may never be matched. The numbers of times I have seen him score a bicycle kick with so much ease is unbelievable. The guy was a monster player and what i most liked about Rivaldo was he was quiet on the pitch and would let his left foot do all the talking.

And with that performance he managed to set a milestone of 3 sorts: the greatest hat-trick ever without a shadow of a doubt; the greatest individual performance ever without a shadow of a doubt and maybe the greatest goal ever considering the situation (last minute of the last game of the season)

Rivaldo mos def up there in my top 3 of all time. Top player. Laakin Zidane tips him to best player of our generation. Your talking about carrying teams on their backs, theres none better than zizou that guy single handed won the french the world cup and european championships. He retired and the french struggle to qualify, he comes back to save them and gets em all the way to the world cup final by himself. That game against brazil, it was Zidane vs brazil. He woulda won had it not been for dirty italian cheats. Zidane best player of the modern generation, no doubt.

If you think Zidane is better than Rivaldo then you know nothing about football and i don't respect your opinion because you come up here with the bullshit some pundits (who think individual awards is what counts when assesing a player's quality) believe.

I can tell you the so many ways Rivaldo is better than Zidane but can you tell you 1 area where Zidane is better?

Rivaldo is not only better than Zidane when it comes to shooting but he's maybe the greatest shooter ever.

Rivaldo is better in set piece and freekicks.

Rivaldo is better in overhead kicks and everything

Tell me when Zidane has ever scored more than 15 goals a season let alone becoming the league's top scorer for 4 consequtive seasons. Even though Rivaldo was an attacking midfielder he was able to hit more than 20 goals in the league alone every season he has been in Barca. I am not taking away anything from Zizou but he was a pupil of the game whereas Rivaldo was a master.
