I watched this programme a few days back. Absolutely fabulous. They even wear macawiis. Did you see their feet? Made of steel camal...

Did you see how protective they wear about their women, when that female presenter wanted to discuss their sexual life? I thought that was beautiful..

I watched that, laakiin the BBC and that presenter made it out like the women were being opressed or something, they seemed pretty happy laakiin...

I just realized this isn't the same one I've watched, I must've watched the 2nd part..

1_Londoner:- Yeah sis, they always make it seem like African women are downtrodden and oppressed. They were genuinely happy, and those women didn't even want to talk about their sex life, it was their choice. It's part of their culture - why can't they just respect that?

Firefly..i watched thta programme Inside the hottest place on earth or something..its no longer on BBC iplayer..but ill try looking for it...amazing programme...they said the horn of africa...mainland africa wuu ka go'ayaa

Anyways 1Londonor..you're right..i just couldnt believe that patronising white lady!! maxay la ooyeeysay? seriously she pissed me off big time... putting down Afar ppl and their traditions with all the moral superiority..only typical of Europeans...i dont even know why she was there....( that presenter not Maalika)

change will only come from within..from the Afar ppl..

she also made a comment about how theres no privacy in Afar culture

she wanted to talk to the women and the men surrounded them..probably to join in..and she quickly made an assumption that they were 'spying' and that they didnt want the women to talk..then she starts crying big crocodile tears loool..its a nomadic culture..they lead a collective communal life..people are not holed up in their rooms doing whatever..and as far as i remember..she wasnt even indoors..am i correct?

E~S:- The volcanoe one right? I've watched it. Subhanallah. Whole families living next to burning debris. You could see the smoke rising from the ground.. But I thought that was in India?

I wish I could slap her one when she started cryin'...

This is the one. But I've also watched a different one, there's a little kid in it, and they survived on coal, by selling coal. I'll try to find it. It was really interesting.

Oh I miss Last Man Standing!!! I wonder if they'll have more episodes? :|
