A cheeky cousin of mine calls from somewhere in deep Mudug and after 3 minutes asks me for some money. I negotiate it down to $300 (not bad for a 6 minute call, $50/per minute). Later on, I call my other cousin in MN to ask how she is doing and about this cheeky cousin of ours and she tells me that she sent him $200. So in one week alone, this guy has hustled $500. I wonder how many other people has he hustled.

Are rer Somalia taking us all for a ride by hitting up their kin for more money than they actually need ?

Sometimes, they got those US/Canada area codes thanks to Sykpe, Vonage etc.

U know my mom says the person she likes sending money to the most is not family, but one of our old neighbors, who's father and brothers were all killed when a mortar hit her house. She's never been married and she has no family who is abroad, so we support her
