In light of the latest attack in Xamar I was wondering, how do 'Muslim' terrorists justify suicide attacks?

They justify it the same way every Muslim justifies actions sanctioned and condoned by Islam. By using the Quran and by extension of that Sharia.

Change the title, the term 'suicide bombing' is inaccurate according to Shuyookh. Martyrdom operations are preferred.

They're delusional and mostly mis-informed young men who do these things. The men who brainwash them use misinterpreted hadiths and misquoted fatwas, mostly from Sh. Albaani (rahiimulah). They call it martyrdom operations and say the end justifies the means. In their argument, their claim is that the suicide bomber is not seeking to die, nobody can gurantee his death, they play around with their wordings and twist the religion to suit their interests. They also use a few historic incidents whereby the Muslims used un-conventional methods to defeat the infidels e.g. an incident whereby a sahaabi was thrown in to the enemy camp so that he could open the door for the Muslims, etc.

No sane Muslim who understands the religion would commit this heinous crime. There's a verse in the Qur'an that clearly says: "...And do not kill yourselves." In addition, Islam does not condone the concept of "collateral damage", you can't kill bystanders and unarmed civilians, even your enemy has to meet certain guidelines before its permitted to kill them. There's a whole series that deals with harb and rules of engagement.
