Clan wars vs. Islamist wars

Which are more destructive?

I think the clan wars from the late 80s to early 2000s were simple opportunist wars -- Somali nomads awash with weapons eager to use them against their historic/traditional enemies to settle old scores.

but the new trend of wars based on Islam and interrpretation are far more complex and deadly......its gonna take alot more then Odayaal and $$ to get these groups to make peace.

The clan wars is/was more destructive; no question about that. How many have perished in the 1990s vs 2000s? There's no comparison. The bulk of those who perished in the last few/several years is the result of the brutal occupation firepower. So far, I would estimate the casualties of Islamist wars in the range of less than 1 thousand. However, the brutal Ethiopian troops caused an estimated +15,000 casualties. Go figure.

One can compromise on behalf of their "clan" but no one is going to compromise on behalf of they're faith.

The likes of Al Shabaab are either going to win the Country over or are going to be destroyed there will be no compromise. :|
