Can you fix my printing problem?
Am trying to print a document, and every time I send it to the printer I am getting "Tray 1 EMPTY" message, I checked all trays, papers are full, tray 1 in fact is a pull-down tray that is not the default tray and has no papers in it normally, I can manually feed papers through tray-1, then the printer prints my document in manual feed. I asked my boss to fire a document to the printer and see if it prints, it does. I checked my printer set-up on the network, all looking good. My question: Why the heck does the printer show that tray 1 empty message when it isn't showing up for everybody else? I must be missing something on the set-up that suddenly screwed up my printer setting. I reset my PC to last month's date after it acted up with the Blue death screen flare-up yesterday"any relations"?. I had to uninstall Java to get rid of Remote Coral Software that wasn't even loading properly when I clicked on. PS: I AM JUST VENTING cause my PC isn't letting me do my job, help me if anyone can before I dissassemble the fucked PC and I go nuts on it. Anyone? Thanks.
Re: Can you fix my printing problem?
Re-installed the drivers for the printer after delete, same problem. Job goes to tray-1 with "the empty message" flickering on the printer screen. Guess it is above my pay grade and have to report it. In the event someone knows about something related to this, leave a comment please. Can't ask the network guys here at work, they like to keep their secrets.
Re: Can you fix my printing problem?
Geo...Its probably a stuck process in the printer spooler so maybe clearing that up will help you. I'm assuming you rights since you were able to uninstall/reinstall drivers.
- Start and Run
- type services.msc and click ok
- Scroll down to Print Spooler, then right-click and Stop the service
- Now go down to Start and then Run
- Type C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers and click ok
This will bring up the spooler folder that maybe contains the stuck job, delete every file in this folder and close it down. Now you need to start the service back up again so
Start and Run
- type services.msc and click ok
- Scroll down to Print Spooler, then right-click and Start the service
- Start and Run
- type services.msc and click ok
- Scroll down to Print Spooler, then right-click and Stop the service
- Now go down to Start and then Run
- Type C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers and click ok
This will bring up the spooler folder that maybe contains the stuck job, delete every file in this folder and close it down. Now you need to start the service back up again so

Re: Can you fix my printing problem?

Hi Gatspy,
Thanks for your efforts. I reset the PC to different dates I knew it was working fine. That reset process briefly fixed the problem but now it is back. So I tried to follow your tips, stoped the service, pulled out the printer folder through sytems/spool/printers, everything is clear. No jobs are stuck.
Now, look at the Printer above, I am using exactly that printer. When i send a job to it for printing, it says Tray1 Empty of paper and waits for me to manually put a paper in that tray after I drop it down, With the red button press, the job is printed as the paper goes in. Another info, If I send two successive print jobs to the printer, The first one requires me to manually feed a paper on tray-1(where I indicated on the pic), The second job comes out naturally without manual feed of papers. Weird. Bal nin yohow, figure that out if you can. Thanks in advance saxib.
PS: We only stack papers on the tray I labeled "Default". It works for everybody else except for me.
Re: Can you fix my printing problem?
Thats very odd one dude, not sure what else to tell you. All I can think of now is that its either your profile or your workstation. Try logging in with your id on another pc thats on the network then print. if you have the same issue, then its your profile. If not then its just your workstation. So either case you'll need the IT dudes there.
Re: Can you fix my printing problem?
Shutdown all applications
Remove the existing printers all of them.
Restart the operating system.
Try to re-install the printers.
Make sure you select one of the printer drivers installed as defaults.
Which operating system are you using?
Make sure your system has the latest OS and all of the patces are installed on the system.
You need to do more reading about your OS and printers and try to understand the compatibilites.

Re: Can you fix my printing problem?
Thanks Both, I deleted the printer drivers again, rebooted the PC then re-installed as a last effort. It now prints without that Error message. That was weird. Thanks Guys. I had to reformat my hard disc couple of weeks ago for virus infection. Ever since I have been having issues pop up every now and then.
Gatspy.
We go around the IT bureaucracy and try to fix issues if we can first. Filling out work order and then wait for someone to show up is a bit unattractive. They can hold your PC up for days if they want to. They are not on site.
