Even Saudi Arabia doesn't govern by those rules. So, the question is where do they get those rules to do what they do? Yup! that's right. It's their law. Their rule, and not directly from God.Shirib wrote:its cominAlluring wrote:Y'all do know that there is no country governed by Shari'a Law right?

I don't care if you are protected in western nations or not. You implied that we would not be protected in our country if it was not secular and that is lie that needs to be corrected. Somalia had a political problem, not a religious one. If someone is not muslim and does not want to live in a muslim country then that is entirely up to him or her but he or she should not lie about it to mislead people.Leila25 wrote:Ofcourse if you are a Muslim and you want to live in a Muslim country, you can practice your faith, but most of us do not want to live in countries were we are without status.Berke wrote:We would not be protected in muslim countries? We fled a civil war, not a religion. Stop spreading lies. We were not a religiously prosecuted and we left Somalia because of a political situation that went south.

Did i mention Somalia? I was speaking as a Muslim living in the West, not as a Somali. Somalis living in the West have benefited from secularism as Muslims. Whether you care or not is not relevant.

Sometimes thinking with emotion doesn't solve the issue @ hand. Religion and Politics cannot mix. It is just the truth. Islam is pure, but once mixed with the evil behavior of politics (the devil's work on earth) it gets tainted to the point of no return.
Either you do one or the other strictly but do not mix them. It is just common knowledge.

Don't compare our beloved Prophet (saw), to others. Even in his time there were men intrepreting religion their own way, and he had to set them STRAIGHT! I don't know why it is so hard for people to understand that humans are corrupt?

Sharia has never worked, even in the so called best times of Islam, you had caliphs being assassinated left and right, and let's not talk about the constant warfare.
The truth is a secular state is inevitable, it's the only system that has show to work in every country it has been implemented in, and it is also the only system that will prevent different sects to coming in to conflict.
Having a state that separates religion and government is essential for peace and progress. And yes I believe Somalis are slow, but they will get there, specially after the alkabab epoch.

Maxaa naga galay hadeeysan Saudi Arabia Shareecada ku dhaqman? We're talking about Somalia here. Islam belonged to all the Muslims in the world the last time that I checked.
Since no country in the world is currently ruled according to the real principles of Shariah Law maybe its high time we Somalis contributed something positive to the world for a change?
The people of Somalia want and deserve real Shariah Law. No to Shabab's crazy antics and no to western interference.

The Prophet SAW was a rare form of a human being and God's messenger.FAH1223 wrote:The Prophet (SAW) dealt with the politics.Alluring wrote:Sometimes thinking with emotion doesn't solve the issue @ hand. Few years after the death of the Prophet SAW, political wars were being fought between close companions of the Prophet SAW which had a devastating impact upon the very theological basis of Islam. These political struggles gave raise to Shia Islam and the current menacing Takfiri sects that are holding much of the Muslim World hostage.
The main lesson drawn from these conflicts is that it is not advisable to marry Religion and Politics. I agree with John Adams when he said secularism is the best tool to preserve the sanctity and purity of religion. In this, secularism is not the enemy of religion that people make it out to be, much the opposite.

Re: Distrubing article...Secularism for Somalia Forever
Do people even understand what they are talking about? I mean I have said time and time again, who ever coined the Somali saying nin buko boqol u tali was our version of Einstein. Every Somali finds himself qualified to discuss every and anything even that which they do not know about. We need people who understand both modern international law and the broad grouping of Islamic codes brought together under "Sharia Law" to navigate us out of the hole we are in. How can Somalia be a "secular nation" when the base of our way of life is grounded on Islamic codes? When you go to the bathroom, you clean yourself according to Islamic edict. When our holiday is Friday, it is because of Islam. When we marry, we marry according to Islamic edict. Even Kenya, a secular non-Islamic nation, now approved a constitution that has khadi courts for Muslims essentially realizing Muslims are governed by a specific code of law. There is uproar in the United States today because an appelate court used Islamic Sharia law code to exonerate a Muslim domestic dispute. The archbishop of Canterbury has said British Muslims should be allowed to use parts of Islamic Sharia code in the English court system. Kenya has a sizable Muslim population, with UK and U.S have smaller sizes...so if these nations are at that stage, how could an almost entirely Muslim nation with values and way of life and culture have foundation on and grounded by Islamic law so woven into the fabric of society become secular? Is he arguing we should the route of Turkey where intolerance and autocracy forces people to be adhere to something to they do not want? I would assume the individual believes in democracy with the base of democracy being majority rules, minority rights. How would you force something that is alien on the majority? Should you tell the Somali that his marriage license be given by a judge not using Islamic marriage laws? It makes no sense and is entirely both ignorant and inflammatory. People with those sorts of agenda should get out of the debate because they do not provide anything that can remotely be considered positive.

Who is going to define what real Islam is? One Muslim's real Islam is another Muslim's fabrication. The lunatic Takfiri that blows himself up really believes that he is going to paradise. There has to be better benchmarks.xoogSADE14 wrote:Alluring
