KuwaitHis Excellency, President Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud met with His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, this week.
The President led a Puntland delegation comprising of: Interior Minister His Excellency General Abdullahi Jama Ilkajir; Petroleum Director Mr. Isse Dhollowaa; and Social Welfare Agency director, Mr. Abdishakur Mohamud Gurey.
During his meeting with the monarch in Kuwait city, the President defended the legitimacy of the ongoing anti-piracy training, for 1050 Puntland Marine Forces
Later, in an interview with the BBC, the President appreciated the warm reception and the pledges for tangible development
extended by the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Jabber Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Puntland.
"Puntland specifically has many needs that the rest of Somalia does not have, especially in infrastructure. We requested tangible development projects and we are confident of Kuwait's commitment to assist Puntland," the President said. "The priority projects forwarded to the Kuwaiti government includes the construction of a factory in Las Qoray, a coastal town in Puntland's Sanaag region."
Earlier on this year, a Kuwaiti charity organization paid a courtesy call to the Puntland government and engaged in discussions with various sectors of the Puntland Leadership and the private sector.
