In 1976 the then president of Somalia, Mr. Siad Barre requested his country be confederated with Ethiopia. However the then president of Ethiopia, Col. Teferi Benti rejected the request.

Subsequent to this decision many youth lost their lives. First in the '77 war. Second in the civil wars and collapse of Somalia.

This indicates that Mr. Siad Barre's decision was right and the alternative has been so far disastrous. In my opinion, as the religious bigotry and Arab influence in the horn of Africa diminishes, and as the ethnic, clan, and sub clan rivlary is exhausted, many will see the wisdom of Siad barre. I beleive sometime by the early 2020's Ethiomalia will be a reality.

Now some would say why Ethiomalia when it could just as easily be Ethionya. But Kenya has never been associated with Ethiopia historically. Kenya is never found in the chronicles of our kings. Infact, the word SOMALI was first mentioned, not in Arabic book, not in English book, not in CHinese book but in the Ethiopian chronicle of Atse Hamde Tsion. So there is a lot of history going back centuries where in the Somalis were part of the central Ethiopian government. The main source of conflict in this relation is Arab imperialism. But Arab might is waning and it is going to be downward spiral for them once their Petroleum goes empty and found themselves in their desert once again.

Somalis and Ethiopia can't unite because of religion. starting from Somalia early conversions from Judaism(moses/solomonic religions) to Islam in 6-7 Century or so, we have been in a constant war with Ethiopia's Christian crusaders.
Every time the early Somali muslims formed an Islamic state, the habeshas tried attacked and tried to destroy, states like the Sultanates of Wabesha, Ifat Sultanate, Adal state and Harari state have been in constant wars with the Habeshas, until they took over the whole of Ethiopia and converted most of Habeshas to Islam, and the Portugese and other European crusaders join in to destroy, and what is remaining today of these states become Somalia , and they still attacking it and crossing the border every time an Islamic state is about to form Somalia.
The Habeshas also crossed the red-sea into Arabia six times, to destroy Kabba. one time one prophet Muhamed was born, one time when he was in Medina, one time when Omar was the Caliphate, twice on the Abassad Caliphate and twice after that, all of them they failed, even though they reached as far as Jeddah sometimes.

I dont like the Woyannes or the Agames but you need to differentiate between them and the Ethiopian people, the regular Amhara in Gondar is not your enemy.
