Dr. Hawa Abdi's foundation might just be the medium you need. Its local, U.N. and bureaucracy free, independent from the TFG, has several feeding centers, has been functioning for the last 19 years, run by Dr. Hawa and her daughters who have proven to be more credible and compassionate than any U.N. institution. For as little as $400/day, 2000+ people are fed - mostly women and children. $1 can feed two people. I attended a famine fundraising with Dr. Hawa last week in Atlanta (she's on a North America tour to raise famine funds) and listening to her detail the gut wrenching work she does at 70 years of age should be enough to motivate us. If a lone woman from a minority clan, with the odds stacked up against her could dedicate her life's work to such a cause, donating online to her foundation should be nothing.
