
Mogadishu Mayor Tarsan
The mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamud Ahmed Nur Tarsan, called for the residents living in al-Shabaab controlled regions to revolt against insurgent group.
“Where are the residents of Jowhar, Bal'ad and Afgoi? People have to organize and start an anti-al Shabaab revolution and manage to overthrow the bad characters of this group,” said Tarsan
Speaking at a press conference in Somalia capital of Mogadishu, the mayor condemned the murder of two youngsters who were among ten seized in Mahaday district in Middle Shabelle region which the militia group attacked a day before.
“The people in Lower Shabelle and Middle Shabelle must wake up and do what Arab people did and overthrow the long time regimes in their countries,” he said.
“My administration will help citizens under al-Shabaab to weaken their power and eliminate al-Qaeda members in Somalia who are hiding themselves in part of southern regions.” Tarsan added.
The mayor said that al-Shabaab were the biggest cause of the famine that hit Somalia this year.
He accused the al-Shabaab movement of selling food aid destined to help Somalia's famine victims.
"Al-Shabaab used the food to feed their fighters and for other political issues," he added.
Reports indicate that government troops and African Union forces are on preparing to attack the rest of al-shabaab bases in the out skirts of Mogadishu.
