I don't understand how you can be surprised. The Boranas and Somalis are the same people; linguistically,physically and culturally.

Major south Somali clans were under Boran protection , its called Tirsimo relation in oromo.
Around 1850, a epidemic wiped out the Borans cattle and population; the somalis chose that moment to rebel and declared war on diminished Boran.
and sold as slaves the borans they captured.
Since then they are sworn enemies;

Nothing much comes up and the time frame you mentioned, didn't the Hobyo dynasty exist? I never heard of Somalis being protected by Borana, etc. How far did the Borana live in modern day Somalia?

That was a "Godfather" way to deal with things. I admire them if it ever happened.Coeus wrote:Somalis are a treacherous bunchaccident wrote:Are you serious?bareento wrote:Major south Somali clans were under Boran protection , its called Tirsimo relation in oromo.

The Tigray people is very decent people and of all ethiopians the most courteous ones
Borana used to live in some parts of north kenya and south somalia, Hobyo is much up north north I believe.
Boranas are very naif people;
I am baffled how naif they are even today.
wallahi I always wonder how they survived in this world, I mean a young boy of six born in Dire Dhawa can fool their wise men

Oh ok, they were probably bullying Ogadeen/Mareexaan/Ajuuraan (when their empire crashed). Good on them.
