you're missing the point here.

So let's say there is a drone attack. It kills Godane and half a dozen Shabaab members. It also kills 20 to 30 civilians. Was the attack worth it? Is it effective? Does the attack give Shabaab support after all those 20-30 dead civilians have brothers, cousins, fathers, sons, etc. who will rightfully so be angry at the attacks. Will these guys then join Shabaab?

Its easy to say AUN to the civilians only, but the situation is much stickier than that. After all they already killed the leader of Shabaab once before and the results were Shabaab just got stronger

Hassan Dahir Aweys has spoken and he is safe from that attack, according to Somali websites; however, Ahmed Abdi Godane have yet to speak after that attack.

It is most likely there is a top mole within Al-Shabaab leadership who is giving the precise locations of wherever the leadership is meeting. This is the fourth attack within this year where Ahmed Abdi Godane and his associates were attacked.
