I wouldnt watch this with my parents, too many jaw drop moments for them. Yes they're Shia but their practise of Islam seems totally the same (ideologically) as Sunni...the differences are minor really.

I would say that they have more freedom in how they choose to express their faith and lifestyles than anywhere I've seen...everyone is seen as an equal, religious or not

Also, the show is an accurate representation of American Muslims. American Muslims are much wealthier and much more educated than European Muslims-hence the liberalism.
if you want to find American Muslims who are more like the traditional European types, you can find them in depressed urban areas with high recent immigrant population.

this is true but at the same time, to get a better representation the show needs to diversify its outlook instead of going to Dearborn

They probably choose more liberal Muslims because more recent immigrant Muslim (the conservative ones) probably aren't too keen on appearing on national t.v And I don't imagine many Americans being able to identify with them either.

And in reality, there's more than one type of Islam. Nice slogan though.
