Nairobi Nights

Post by AbdiWahab252 »

Caadi mahan ! I love this city of excesses. The city where you can literally party all night dusk to dawn and still not feel tired. Nairobi is to me is what cigarettes are to a smoker after a 14 hr flight, air is to a diver after going underwater for minutes.

I thoroughly enjoy this wondrous city with all of its delights. Nothing like the repressed, madness called Somalia.

Must Visit Places:

1. Casablancas on Somali Night - Wow 8-)

2. Fuego De Gauchos - Mashallah, best Brazilian BBQ

3. Westland Club Districts - Galileos, Gypsies, Black Diamond, Rezerous, Red Tape

4. Nairobi National Park - Good for a lazy Saturday drive

5. Savannah Cafe or Grand Regency Hotel - Meet every war criminal to have ruined Somalia. See these animals outside their natural environment. I love to visit my favorite "adeer" and political mentor, Halyey Maxamed Qanyare

I love this city where you can do whatever you want and rebalance yourself before returning to the shitholez in the land of the nutty people who dislike enjoying life.

Btw, did anyone go to the Somali party last night ? Eastleigh represented in full force and the caliber of chicks was very impressive.

It is funny how words can make places seem better than they are. If I had not been to Nairobi and traveled well in the city I would have thought you were talking about Cape Town, South Africa or even Mombasa, Kenya.

Nairobi is dirty, gray, disgusting, and one of the most unsafe cities in the world (that is not at war). In fact it competes with Johannesburg for the top most unsafe city I have ever been to where I literally thought I would catch a stray bullet. My first week, I passed by a mob justice where a thief was burning in the street of this developed city, I witnessed a firefight in the middle of downtown Nairobi between undercover security and robbers, and witnessed two hit and runs with one death in the middle of a developed street.

Nairobi was grimy, there is hardly sun and I was there during "summer season", it is gray, it gives you the jeepers, there is a lot of poverty, overly corrupt security force, etc. Johannesburg is the only other town I have ever been to that competes for my absolute disgust with Nairobi. I honestly hate both of those towns.

Now on the other hand, Mombasa and Cape Town in the same country as those cities compete for one of the towns I would most settled and live a great and joyous life. It still amazes me Cape Town and Johannesburg can share a country and Mombasa and Nairobi can share a country. I remember walking the Cape Town marina at 3 in the morning one time after a night at downtown and being free to catch a tuktuk in Mombasa at 1 am while I wouldn't get out after dark in Nairobi if you paid me. :|

Google "Nairobbery" and then tell me which account seems closer to the truth. Nairobi is a not town where you would majority of people writing good reviews about especially if it is about personal liberty to have fun and enjoy a carefree life.

It's literally a ghetto inner city project in the US on steroids with crime beyond the sky and added in easy access to automatic weapons and an even more corrupt security force.

Beans let me guess you are recounting your situational adaptation experience when you were a Somali refugee in Eastleigh? That is an extreme not reflective of general tourism or city visiting. Remember, the accounts from travelers and visitors is totally different from the accounts of people in Kibera slum or Eastleigh expriences. To judge Abdiwahab's post, you would need to look at the perspective of a traveler to the city not adapted or conditioned to it.

Nairobi is as exactly as I have described and God knows it. For the life of me I don't know why Abdiwahab would try to make the Nairobi whose reviews are disseminated throughout the net in traveler reviews and a place some of us have visited for leisure travel and try to paint it as Miami with the added fun and the freedom to get around. Nairobi; really man?

It has nothing to do with Africa. I can compare it to Mombasa, Cape Town, Livingston and Lusaka, Zambia, Botswana or any of the other Black African towns and cities I have been to. I have never experience the personal feelings of revulsion and lack of freedom to live I experienced in Nairobi and Johannesburg in any of those major African cities and towns and it was primarily because of the crime rate, insecurity, and level of corruption I witness in Nairobi and Johannesburg that was not prevalent in any other major Black African town or city I have been to.

I honestly hate Nairobi and would never visit there unless I absolutely have to. If I ever need to go to Kenya, I would fly direct to Mombasa.
