siciid, sxb you seem to be understimating the cost of road building quite seriously. Make a bit more research about it you will realise how expensive they are. I dont know where you get that 10 million figure, but even if it was accurate you should not forget to add to the cost of inflation. 10 million in early 1970s is close if not more than 100 million today adjusted with inflation.

Dhegobacayl Inader dont get me wrong, inader i meant the Your Airport meaning in your city wich will benefit the people of Hargeisa alone, and i know you said we dont have pay for it, but the actual minister said those words, wich didnt sound any sense to reer Burco people.... The Minister is saying im funding 10 mill for Hargeisa and berbera, while reer Burco has to pay from their own pockets .... si kale uma wadain sxb

That is NOT true and you know that. Hargeisa is the capital city of somaliland. It doesn't belong to any given people.

PLs no more airports seriously people would benefit much more from developments in other areas..like education, water shortage etc.. than a freakin airport.

btw why is it so expensive to build roads in place like Somaliland, where labour is so cheap?

Because the people are lazy, especially those at the top politically. They are constantly making excuses for their ineptitude and making road-blocks in the way of progress. Hadana they waste millions of dollars on repainting Hargeisa Airport or Berbera Airport etc. 10 mill would be more than enough to build massive road networks and motorways that connect the main cities. Those roads wouldn't be state of the art, but they would be safer and more usable than the current ones.

You are right, It would be wiser to invest in education, waste disposal, water supply and management and civil infrastructure projects.

sxb i know roads are very important but they are very expensive too. for example, one km of road costs between half a milion to one milion dollars depending on the quality. bal intaa ku dhufo 160 km, it will cost over 100 milion dollar. Taklae, as far as i know reer Oodweyne alone are the ones commited to this projects, other HY are not bothered for example majoriy of reer sanaag HY care only building Burco Cerigabo road while reer Hargiesa guys dont e bother anything east of Hargiesa. Waxaad ku cimro qaadataan reer Boorama, since last three years they have been busy building 20km long road and it is not completed yet, and they are united and fully commited for it.

No all HY are working together for this project in the beginning reer sanaag were apprehensive and wanted to only donate to their degaans but in the end everyone donated together and thats a fact
