Guys!

1. I did not say replace the Arabic Qur'an with English.
2. I did not say only memorize the translation of the Qur'an in English.

Like I said If you want to memorize the translation of the Qur'an in English use that source. I myself have re-memorized Juz Camma by heart and the last two months have been memorizing the Juz completely in English translation. As I move further, I will continue on this two prong strategy of which the English memorization part can be covered with the source I posted.

TO: Kalia, Zingii, Niya, Lilahiya, Tuba, Jazakallah Kheyr to you guys as well walaalayaal.

May be it's one of the miracles of the Koran that it can easily be memorized and recited from memory in Arabic.

Edit: Westy, you memorized chapters of the Koran in English and recited it from memory just like the Arabic one? That's amazing, though it kinda sounds weird, I think.
Wallahi it is amazing. On average it takes me about 20 minutes to memorize a page of Qur'an in English (I'm a little faster than my other peers in the setting) and when I am done and testing myself with a completely Arabic Qur'an and translating it word by word, I amaze myself. I have tried with regular English books but to no avail. I have just finished the memorization of Juz Camma in English bro and I can recite the entire chapter's translation from memory.

The source I posted above is what I use.

Yup.. We weren't allowed to proceed to the next surah unless we also memorised the English translation..
It's not weird.. If anything what's weird is not understanding the surahs you're memorising.. :|

Thinkin' back @ it.. Not only was that a great way of memorising the Quran but it also made us appreciate the Quran more, as we actually understood it instead of blindly memorising it.. :|
Waliba I also remember picking up certain Arabic words through this method..

Thanks for the link @ Republic.. InshaaAllah I'll try and revert to this again..

I'm not a xafid, i memorized Juz Amma iyo abit of Juz tabarik.
What i do is memorize in arabic then read in english.

Download qur'an in your mp3, plug in the headphones, grab a roman arabic quran with arabic and translation and start reading along and memorizing.

West, no problem. Glad to have re-motivated you.

Abukar, this method I posted is proven to work. And trying to memorize the translation needs totally peace and quiet.

its better to learn arabic, that way you will understand the quraan naturally, as well as the kutub of other branches of knowledge. learning via english is ok, but there is something about the arabic langauge that makes it comprehensive like no other. with that said, the quraan still needs ahkaam and fiqh, which can only be derived by learning tafsiir with a sheikh, which a student of knowledge should study at some point in their life.
