The people in Jeddah, Kabul, Tehran, Abu Dubai or Palestine never held a rally for the human suffering in Oakland, Harlem, Chicago, Baton Rouge, Cleveland, Houston, Tulsa.
The people of the Middle East never held rallies, sent defense nor fundraiser money for Mali, Rwanda, Liberia, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone ... yet we break our necks and bend over backwards to acknowledge their suffering and send over our financial aid. We continually put the needs of the "UMMAH" over our own right here in America.

in America Imams like Zaid Shakir and Siraj Wahajj have fundraised a tremendous amount of money for the immigrant communities thoughout the US..yet when it comes to raising money for their own communities they struggle.

I'm always wary of anyone who asks for money that will be spent where I cannot see its affects.

As much as I support community activity, I find it difficult to agree with the quote. If he's referring to privately raised money as "financial aid", then I can understand that. But from what I can tell, the message is racially fueled. I doubt Rwandans rally often about the problems in Kabul or Cleveland.

The average person in Oakland, Harlem, Chicago, Baton Rouge, Cleveland, Houston, Tulsa, despite their struggles is much more wealthy than the average person in those other places he mentioned. Now saying that, there are rich individuals and organizations who have helped out in those places. His allegations seem to have racial undertones and a f*ck others it's only about us mentality.

If you fail at home who the hell needs your help, first help yourself, then your family, then your community and when you reach a point where you are not worried about your neighbor sleeping with an empty stomach then you can be more open to helping others, this statement I totally agree with, but I noticed the racial undertone too, divided the Arab Muslims from the African Muslims, I don't agree with that.

I agree with him to some extent.

I met a somali canadian who works for a Saudi charity organization. His team was sent to New Orleans after Katrina devastation. They spent millions and millions of dollars over there. It was a Saudi/Muslim agency and the recipients were Christian Americans. Muslim charities help out others including Americans.

I feel like i need to step in here and give my input. I think what this AA muslim Imaam needs to understand is, usually the fundraising done are for one time events such as huge civil war breaking out, earthquakes, and the likes. It just so happens, that Muslim countries are the most unstable and likeliest to undergo some kind of seismic shift.
