Most ot what Union said is what is considered fair by moderates on both sides; both the Israeli left as well as the PLO/Palestinian Authorities. In fact the only people who disagree are Hamas (people who think it is possible Israel should not exist) and the Israeli right led by Likud/Netanyahu (people who see Israel beyond 1967 and undivided Jerusalem as capital of Israel).

Except for the right of return issue (even Arab moderates have not put down that card yet) most of what Union said is what responsible participants on both sides have said is a fair solution.

You guys are really ignorant about the state of negotiations and what the Palestinians themselves have said is acceptable and fair to them under the reality.

I think the current Israeli attack against the Palestinians and this entire ongoing conflict is caused by the collective trauma the Jewish people have experienced through countless ages manifesting itself through hyper aggression. After hundreds of years of languishing in exile, the Jews have finally regained control of their most holy and ancient land, a piece of real estate granted to them by Yahweh himself, and they are keen on guarding it. There is no way the Jews will be forced from their land again, because today they rely not on the power of Yahweh to protect their borders but an effective and valorous military and a stockpile of nukes. The Palestinians must realize that the Jews are not going to leave the land, must accept Israel's legitimacy and right to exist, the reality that Israel will not return to the 1947 border, and that there is no right to return. The land the Palestinian currently occupy, the West Bank and Gaza, will become their state. The world, taking responsibility for Israel's aggressive actions, must pressure the Palestinians to accept this. Then, and only then, can we begin to convince Israel to come to the table of peace. I think it's reasonable to request that Israel compensate those who lost properties in the the Jewish take over, compensate those who have been unjustly killed in Israel's attacks, bring to justice those responsible for disproportionate retaliations, grant East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state, immediately withdraw from all settlements, and effectively safeguard and ensure the rights and equality of Israeli Arabs.

Both sides must make serious and painful comprises for there to be peace.

Your soltion is good but it really deprives the palestinians. Arab countries should take in palestinian refugees and grant them citizenship. The land of israel is like 0.16% of all Arab land (excluding Somalia.) I'd suggest that somalia gives out a chunk of her land to settle palestinian refugees (about 500,000.) Once somalia does this, other Muslim nations will be ashamed and they'll take in palestinians.

I agree. Most of the people in this forum are extremely ignorant about many things, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. They don't do the Palestinians any good by being ignorant or close minded to peaceful compromise.

We can't expect the other Arabs to treat the Palestinians with dignity. Putting their lip service aside, they rarely help the Palestinian cause. In fact, often the U.S has to pressure the Arab states to help the PLO financially. The best future for Palestinians is a country of their own.
