Puntland elders calls for stolen properties to be returne

This is a very interesting proposal by the Puntland community, an immediate return of all stolen properties in Benadir and its outer hinterlands. Mogadisho has been peaceful for almost two years yet we don't see any serious initiative by the government to crackdown on the criminals who forcefully seized property from the fleeing Darood families during the advent of the civil war. A failure to address these very important issues will sow the seeds of mistrust and hatred between Somali citizens. Unless the government initiates a program to remove squatters from those properties, they will not be seen as legitimate by the other clans of Somalia. Those who are seeking justice must be granted the opportunity by the government to allow for the return of stolen properties to the original owners including luxurious property like exclusivel private villas etc. I also think that without any initiative by the government, she will be perceived as a Hawiye dominated entity, neglecting to address the very important concerns will not be good for no one.

Any violence incurred against those who return to the capital in order to regain their properties will be seen as government-approved, even though such actions may be committed by a private citizen.

I think this whole notion of cid baa property laga haystaa is over exaggerated, since the second half of 2006 anyone who have got valid docs can claim his properties back. Secondly I don't think the legitimacy of this government has something to do some old odayaal doing fadhi ku Dirir so it doesn't actually matter.

Actually any Darood that wants to get their property back should not go. Most squatters are either Abgaal or Murusade. Tarsan and Gaafow and their kind.

Furthermore, there are many Abgaals/Wacbuudan, who want to clear the H/G squatters from Xamar.

its easy to point the finger at HG because they are not locals, but there are probably more Abgaal and Murursad squatters than anyone else, besides HG are familiar people, hal hal baa loo yaqaan and things are usually resolved through their elders, wadaado and qaraabo etc, whereas these other niggers its difficult unless you are well connected, if your parents are born, breed in Mogadishu they probably have friends from these other hutus, through them you can get your property back, but I just don't see any other way.

Its not a MJ thing....lots of different clans lost property in Banadir.

This issue will not go away....this will be the test of this govt.
If the fail to resolve this issue they will have no credibility whatsoever.

My family actually had help from Habergidir to get our occupied homes back and yes Abgaal and Murusade were the worst. You'd have to go to Mogadishu in order to understand. The diaspora has a different mentality but on the ground its actually different.
