Re: What are you like with your boss/colleagues?
I have a job like that. There was a colleague of mine who was honestly paranoid and screamed regularly at our manager saying that the night before I should have prepared certain things for her. Our manager is very passive sometimes and just takes her abuse and directs his frustration at me. I told him off because she has no business yelling at him (it's unprofessional) and even if she did, that's something he should take up with her, not me. Secondly, everything she wants me to do for her is outside of my responsibility - it's HER job to carry out those duties and there's no way he was going to single me out to cater to her every whim, doing things out of my responsibility, staying late after work just to appease her and to keep him from getting yelled at. I was thinking about reporting him to our union if he dared make me do what he tried to make me do, but he relented.
Honestly, I think racism is a major factor. Although the others involved are Asian and other races, there seems to be an anti-black sentiment among certain people there that's very noticeable to me. Especially since they seem to be incredibly critical of black female employees and focused on our every move rather than other what other employees are doing. While it sickens me, it's not as if I can escape this racism since most places will most likely be the same. So I'm staying until I finish school, fighting for my rights anytime someone tries to violate them and being grateful for the few civil people I work with.

Sorry abakar, such people are inevitable at work.
I am very close with my boss and I treat my subordinates nicely. However there are those people who are just prompted to make trouble for everyone. Try to not form informal relationship with them. Let your interactions with them be strictly work related.
I hope you take this as a lesson learnt. And good luck!

Never shout especially here in the UK, people are reserved as you know and they are two faced to no end at work. First thing you need to do when you start a new job is figure out the dynamics, the personality of the boss, are they the do your job and we'll get along type or the bullshit sheeko sheeko type or the power tripping kind etc. Alxamdulillah I've always gotten on with my supervisors not because they were all easy people but once you get a hang of their personality you can work around them. That and you need to identify the gossip, the one who's always shifting blame, the boss's pet, the one everyone hates and the one everyone likes.abakar20 wrote:After shouting the odds out and upon realising no one was gonna take my side..I told the boss thanks for your time and help I will collect my due wages and you Shan't hear from me again..yes it hurts to be out of a job but I left with my head high, I was extremely reasonable with everyone and they never gave me a chance to prove myself..I came late twice in the space of nearly three months yet its been blown out of proportion and ever since I could not win the boss over..
Secret that's realtalk bro. These retards I had beef with were cadaans and pakis
I like starting a new job it's like game of thrones and you're fresh blood.

If your boss was female, you should've offered to sleep with her or done some other sexual favors for her. Problem solved.

Re: What are you like with your boss/colleagues?
Sorry to hear about that walaal
InshaAllah shaqo ka fiican ba heli doonta.
I work with people who are a lot older than me. Only one girl in my group has about 4 years on me, and the rest are in their mid 30s, 40s, and 50s. Very friendly people though
I speak to 3 people regularly, one of which is my manager, and the rest I just say hi to or make small talk with when we bump into each other. My manager is such a nice guy and is very accomodating/understanding. Alxamdullilah, this is prolly the best job I've had so far.

Abakar
You're very young and this is just a learning experience so don't worry too much about it.
It's not like you lost a career job.
When you start a new job, it's important to take note of the dynamics and the different personalities you will be dealing with. No matter how great of people you will be working with, there will always be office politics and gossips so always stay cool and play the game. It is never wise to lose your cool with anyone at work, it's better to remain professional. Always remember that you will need to leave a good impression with those you work by showing good work ethics, that's important for you to build a good résumé.
It gets Better when you work with professionals who have their own responsibilities and deadlines, so nobody will really have time to throw you under the bus or keep tabs on you. Alhamduliah, I work in a team in my division and we have our own work space and responsibilities, so when we meet for lunch or take walks its catch time and socializing.

Nah, he did the right thing. In my opinion, he only had two options:TheAnswer2 wrote:you took a big L right there by quitting. now your broke and jobless. but hey, at least you kept your dignity right?abakar20 wrote:After shouting the odds out and upon realising no one was gonna take my side..I told the boss thanks for your time and help I will collect my due wages and you Shan't hear from me again..yes it hurts to be out of a job but I left with my head high, I was extremely reasonable with everyone and they never gave me a chance to prove myself..I came late twice in the space of nearly three months yet its been blown out of proportion and ever since I could not win the boss over..

1. Stay and try to prove yourself to them.
That would involve taking their conspiring, lies, gossip, and abuses of power. And when you have a manager who is so unprofessional and so easily misled, there is close to no chance of ever proving yourself to him unless you somehow please those who are the ones who influence his opinions and actions. And such people are often xasid, enjoy making others miserable, and lack humility thus rendering the chances of proving them wrong nil - that is, unless you lower yourself to their level and possibly inflict such cruel treatment on others, which still might not work.
2. Quit.
At some point, you have to admit to yourself that certain things are out of your hand and to realize what you can and can't control. The situation with his colleagues and manager is out of his hands, he can't change their minds nor can he change the power structure. But he can change his situation by leaving this toxic environment. There's no use to subjecting himself to it. The costs are greater than the benefits.
I've been there. It takes real strength to overcome pride and to leave such a situation. Someone who is too prideful might refuse to quit because that would be like admitting defeat in their mind. But that is defeat - that is finding that there is no room for growth and finding someplace else to learn and grow.
