I can't speak in maay maay but I understand what people say.

As far as I have known, Rahanwein is an other name for D&M and they speak maay maay, except Dabare (a Digil clan) that speaks a complex version of maay maay.

Trust me, you will never be an expert in maay maay by spending a year with someone who speaks. It's not as easy as you think.

Wow! Deeqa, you're even better than me, despite living for 4 years in Dinsor in early 90's.

I would have failed the first one and the fourth, may be even Galoon (I thought that was popcorn).

PS: As far as I know even Garre's & Jiido's also speak different dialects just like Dabare's, no? Not 100 % though.

Twist, I am not sure about Jiido and Garre. Are they digil? The first time I heard a dabare guy from diinsoor speaking, wallahi I thought he was speaking in an other language. It sounds like Greek. And the guy got mad coz I asked him if he was really seriously speaking in a Somali language. Then he called me "Heewi naareed" . I was like :wtf:

But tbh, its so different than maay maay. Not even close.

LOOOOOOOOOOOL @ Heewi naareed! :deadrose:

Yeah, Gare & Jiido are Digil too. Apart from few individuals I knew in person (and they were either standard Somali speakers or May-may), I am not familiar with those two but I heard they have their own unique dialects too like Dabare.
