Islam was spread by Sufi missionaries across the world even thou, the myths of grave-worshippers existed in many parties in the world. However, Salafis has posed a great threat to Islamic society. It started when theologian or the reformer Muhammad Ibn Abd al-Wahhab revised the behaviour of the UMAH. Salafis beliefs leave no space for tolerance for non Salafis, and I thinks that's the reason why we are in mess today.

They like to live their own compound. They don't like to share mosque or anything with us. I remember first time I was in that compound I was totally stunned to see the amount of teenagers lived there and their way of live for example the administration have no interest in education nor quran for those teens!! all what they taught was MAWLUUD and eating HILIB.

Sh. Uways Axmad Al-Qaadiri is buried in Biyooleey. He originally resided in or around Baraawe, along with his jama'aat.

Like most if not all dugsi children before the civil war, I went to Biyooleey with my Qur'an teachers for siyaaro and paid respects to his grave. He was an ordinary man of great importance to the 'ulama of his era (early 20th century). He was a fierce anti-colonialist and had to retreat from the coastal cities to the hinterland after losing to the colonial powers right before his passing. He never asked for anyone to worship his grave and it serves no purpose to do so. The most anyone can do is to pray for his soul and hold his memory in respect.

 wallah i havent heard other than southerns whatever their qabil is. but now im learning from wayeel, there is ziyarat in hargeysa! also i wasnt talking about sufiya.

Sufia, has roots in islam and that is not only for particular region( also i blame you southern somalis, for changing our whole life and giving us last name that i truly hate it. lol) , but what is crazy is, the bida'a ziyarat and tabarokaat , asking from dead, that is clear shirk. authubillah.

Hyper,

I understand ziyarat. What is tabarokaat?

And I repeat my question. If you were to visit the Rawda, would you personally be honoring the Prophet or worshiping him?

Anarchist,

Yours is also my understanding. The annual siyarrro was a major social event, involving hundreds if not thousands of people, at that time something really significant. Education can stop folks from "asking" from the dead. I find the Wahaabbi penchant for destroying the historical past offensive and unnecessary. I am convinced that siyarro does not have to involve shirk. Respect the message and honor the man who brought it. But pray to God.

what you dont understand is, we do not go rawda to honor prophet , we honor by say sallah 3alaihi wasalam. we do not have christian culture honoring some one by visiting grave. i go to read salah 3ala mohammed. exactly as i do with random muslim person. prophet's grave has no special than other muslims. prophet himself is who Allah honored him.

my i add, many people do not even go to madina . how many times i went haj and never went to grave of prophet. no special ajer i would get and not requirement for haj.

I have learn by heart nebi amaan and I use to recite during the ramadaan. I am glad the sufi in ceerigaabo aren't grave worshipers. Sufi have spread the message of peace, love and tolerance to the mankind.
Laakiinse waan la socdaa jaahilnimada kale ee ku dhex qasnayd.

Unfortunately majority of the folks that go to siyaaro do shirk. They make Dawaaf on the grave like it was the Ka'ba, they put their forehead something called turaab(ash looking sand) for blessings.
They ask the dead Sheikh, if I get so and so I will slaughter two goats for you etc :snoop:

I agree with you about educating the masses instead of going on a grave destruction mode.
