Actually Sweden is one of the few countries that wants to mediate between Somaliland and Somalia. Formally Somaliland is lumped together with Somalia but they know very well that it's far from reality, hence their stance on international mediation and the possibility of two seperate countries :eat:

Why would it have taken them 25+ years to do so? Eritrea, Kosovo, South Sudan etc all these countries were granted recognition and their seat at the U.N. within pristine time.

Somaliland would have joined them long ago if there was a correct agenda to address. It's de facto, not de jure sxb.

It's 23 years and all those countries you've mentioned and their case for international recognition can't be compared to Somaliland. Just look at South Sudan, their struggle went on for more than 4 decades.

The problem is western countries want Somalis to solve this problem hence the talks in Turkey but when these talks fail the next step will be international mediation. Sweden is among the countries that want to mediate and by then Somaliland just needs to present their case professionally and that's it. :stylin:

You mean there's no correct agenda? That the ''union'' wasn't illegal? etc..

you have to look at each new state on a case by case basis. kosovo is a western friend and is only recognised by us, some eu states and other pro west nations, forget them they're not a un member yet

regarding eritrea and south sudan, they have been granted independence by ethiopia and north sudan via negotiations. unlike xamar, addis and khartoum didnt had fallen govts and both were realistic to accept that independence is the only option for their breakaway regions. until recently we had no real govt in xamar for us to deal with but this is changing and xamar will have to accept the will of my people's wish for ictiraaf if history is to show us

XimanJaale wrote:I have noticed that there countless of coastal settlements in Puntland especially in the Bari region. Some are very small settlements and others are medium in size. I think Bari region is a historic area of Somalia. If archaeological studies are done in Bari region then alot of things could be found.

I have noticed that Somaliland has very few coastal settlements, though they have rich ancient things in the interior of Somaliland especially near Hargeisa's surroundings. Look at google map along the coast from Somaliland all the way to Puntland's Bari region and you will see.

I would really want to travel through Somaliland and Puntland's Bari region maybe Nugaal too.
True sxb. There are some really fascinating ancient structures throughout Somalia.

For example, near Bosaso, there's a 2km-3km long earthwork, which is believed to be a huge grave for an ancient Habar. It's the largest structure of its kind not only in Somalia, but in the Horn as a whole.

It's important that these old monuments are acknowledged for the historical treasures that they are. They serve as a link to the past, so their preservation must be prioritized.
