3 executed, including Faroole nephew for spying by Shabab

Al-Shabaab executed three men in Barawe on Tuesday (March 4th), accusing two of the men of spying for the Somali government and Puntland administration and the other for French and American intelligences.

Mohammed Abdulle Gelle, 29, allegedly assisted in US drone strike in Jilib in October 2013 that left two senior al-Shabaab commanders dead, al-Shabaab announced on Radio Andalus' Facebook page. Gelle was also accused of working for the French military who carried out a raid against al-Shabaab in Bulomarer in January 2013.

Ahmed Abdullahi Farole, 47, was accused of spying for the Puntland administration, and Abdirahman Abdulatif was accused of spying for the Somali national intelligence agency.Farole is the nephew of former Puntland President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole, Somalia's RBC Radio reported.

The three accused were executed by firing squad after an al-Shabaab judge declared them guilty.
