Only I have the divine right to speak ill of them. Outsiders don't. I know this is a double standard but I will also plow your name and reputation through the mud if need be, just to make the point that you are lesser than if you attack me and the collective. I will also use fancy things like accolades and my extensive network to show-off and denigrate your accomplishments whilst highlighting my own some more.

Are you guys aware that this external factor (women) can adversely effect your pride? Yes

And that this is completely arbitrary and has nothing to do w/ your intrinsic qualities as a man? No

I would say a slight against any woman a man finds himself honour bound to guard is a slight to his ego. The man's ego reinforces his self esteem, which I think is an intrinsic quality. In a way, you could argue that he is looking out for himself. It's a dilemma. It's a burden, which could prove cumbersome; since men's image and self worth are to an extent, tied to that of females associated with them, an external and most unpredictable element to their person.

You could interpret Chris Brown assertion that "these hoes ain't loyal" as frustration at this paradigm and linkage which females seem to be unmindful of for the most part.

I've observed throughout my years on S/net and irl to some extent that women are often used as a weapon against a man's pride. To clarify, insulting women (or any person) that someone is related to will most likely evoke anger and rightfully so; however, in many cases, the woman/women being insulted is not a direct relative. For instance, two forumers, usually male, are at each others throats and one will probably initiate a long discussion on how women from tribe/clan X are ridiculously easy to sleep with. Now the person from tribe/clan X will claim the exact same thing about tribe/clan Y and this goes on to include other supposedly scandalous groups of women. Another example is when a non-Somali slanders Somali women for being promiscuous, ugly, etc, and then the Faarax will step up to "defend the honour of Somali women" and begin to disrespect women from various walks of life. And to make things clear, I don't think this is not exclusive to Somalis at all. Thus, what I'd like to know is if women and their status are integral parts of a man's pride/dignity? Also, are males even cognizant of this? Are you bothered when someone insults the women of your clan or tribe or region? And if so, could you explain why.

Everything will make a lot of sense if you realize it has very little do with the women and all to do with pride. Their ego percieves an attack on them, and they just react. You can say to them "the tuulo your tribeX lives in has too many rocks" and you will get a "no your tuulo does". Winning to them is having a stronger reaction.
