UN Special Representative congratulates Somalia on 54th Independence Day

Mogadishu, 1 July 2014 – The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia (SRSG), Nicholas Kay, congratulated the people of Somalia as they celebrated their 54th Independence Day and called on all Somalis to unite and continue the hard work to build a peaceful future for their country.
“On this day, 54 years ago, the people of Somalia took charge of their own destiny and realised their aspiration for an independent sovereign nation, committed to the ideals of unity, equality and justice. The hard work of building a peaceful and prosperous nation continues today. As we celebrate independence day, we not only remember the historic achievement of 1960, but we also look towards the future and pledge to support a peaceful and stable future for all Somali people.” Mr Kay said.

Anyway, Puntland doesn't need no one tbh, its just that a lot of old school Puntlanders love and yearn for the olden days, they would like everything to be like it was before the civil war, they'd like too chill in the south and shit when the reality is that its been close to two decades and a half since the civil war, Xamar is now a hawiye city. The proper south is way too complicated as well, peace is so far off that I can't even foresee it coming up for years and years. There''s the political side, the tribal conflicts, the economical one, Al-Shabaab, Amisom control etc Too many to list.
Puntland has tried to revive the Somali state so many times, all this Dowlad and stuff now in xamar is mainly due to us. We waisted so much time and all we got was insults and being called names.

Puntland has never needed the south since it was first created, our people have survived on our hard work and love for our ancestoral homeland after we were forced to build it properly. To throw all of that out of the window and wait for a never ending conflict ridden south to get better is stupid. Puntland way isku filantahay and we need to move on & divide Zoomalia up.

very good idea chinaman... nugaal, bari and north mudug which makes up puntland constitute a third of the the south (old italian somalia) and is much more peaceful and liveable then the rest of the south. its sad that faroole a man with balls is not still leader as he is pro independence and can pave the way to securing puntland's interest
