UK is so unlike US.

Post by The`Republic »

Wallahi it is a beta country. How do you allow your territory to even get close to Scotland's folly.

America won't even allow Puerto Rico and Guam vote and they aren't still states.

Let alone Texas or Mississippi who still yap about the south will rise.

They killed a million than break the country and today the idea of treason is so punishable, an Alex Salmond would have been tried by a military court during his freshman political appearances.

You got Scotland by force. Today it is the heart of you.

How did it come to a vote???

Nin sigtay ma noola. UK is finished.

actually the general feeling right now here in the UK is a sense of solidarity with the Scottish and their decision, new measures and promises have been made to Scotland to give them a new sense of worth. they had a chance but they chose to stay

Nobody got Scotland by force. The king of Scotland James VI became King James I of England and Ireland
When Elizabeth I of England/Ireland died without children.

A century later their Parliaments decided to merge through the Act of Union
they have every right to leave that union

Same thing with Canada and Quebec. Back in the 90's the Quebecois were on the verge of approving an independence referendum. The desperate Canadian government responded by approving tens of thousands of backlogged citizenship applications, hoping immigrants would vote to stay with Canada in gratitude.
There difference between the UK and America is that America has a nation-cult. Flags fly everywhere, children swear allegiance to the republic daily, national anthems are sung heartily at all the sporting events. And besides all that, there's a pervading national myth of America being this great, free nation— a light unto the Earth. Americans can't fantom why anybody would want to leave such a utopia— and those who do are either mad or against freedom. You never want to be seen as against freedom.

Republique

Puerto Rico always talks within them to separate. But I think there would not be a 'movement'! Who would want to separate from the Mighty USA??? Everyone wants to come to USA. Its different with the UK and Scotland. UK is a stagnant, socialist country. Scottish are hard working people who think they are being dragged to stagnancy by a big government like the UK. Their desire for separation make sense. But Puerto Rico separating from the Mighty, economically brilliant USA, is an OXYMORON. :D

^What is so civilized about UK? I've sworn to never even fly over UK again. People in the UK study 6 months to obtain a driver license. :Heh: Nigga we don't even study that hard for the GRE here.

:snoop: 6 months? You can pass your licence within two months, but yeah the UK drivers licence is one of the most difficult to obtain, promoting better road safety is less civilised?

Its not less civilized but it is confining. U feel u r not free like the Americans. But I understand why they will make it hard to get a license. UK roads are small and narrow. Their cars even smaller. How they drive through that is a mystery.

USA is what GOD intended for Mankind. Big, Spacious, and FREE!
