It's a religious duty; if Arabs are hurting, Somalis are hurting. Somalis also believe in Arab superiority. This is why Somalis claim Arab forefathers or even say their mothers are from Yemen or Dubai.

I never heard of a Somali fighting with Boko Haram or the Rohingya against the Burmese military junta. Or joining the 'mujahideen' in Chechnya or China

I think more Somalis from the diaspora joined IS so far then Al Shabab since 2006.
