Turkey: Puntland Is Somalia's Role Model, Aid Will Be Direct

GAROWE, Somalia Nov 4, 2014 (Garowe Online)-Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Olgan Bekar who paid his first visit to the north eastern state of Puntland since being appointed to the post has pledged more support on Tuesday, Garowe Online reports.

Speaking at a joint press conference with President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali at Puntland State House, Olgan commended the state for being a role model for the country’s federalization process, and stressed the need for unique partnership between Turkey and Puntland. “I believe that Puntland is a role model for the emerging federal states,” said Turkish Ambassador.

“I underline that I will carry forward concerted efforts to forge better relations between Turkey and Puntland”. Meanwhile, on his side President Ali noted that bilateral discussions touched on key areas including economic infrastructure development, agriculture as well as health and education fields. “

We also asked Turkey to evenly distribute Somalia aid to the regional states since the country is in decentralization stage,” he added. Ambassador Bekar toured Garowe General Hospital and Gambol Secondary school in advance of his return to Mogadishu where Turkish government maintains diplomatic presence.

What do you think the Garowe accords were all about?

Hassan Sheikh represents the rejectionist factions from the south.
They're quite happy to see political stalemate as long as they can continue to fill their pockets.

Do you have any evidence hassan steals money from the government?
Dont no much about the Garowe accords, but if it was signed in Garowe and MJs agreed to it, am almost sure its flawed

whether he personally steals Govt funds is not the point....his regime is the most corrupt in the world.
The previous central bank Governor detailed how Hassan and his closest associates wanted her to transfer Govt funds into private accounts.
Then there is the American law firm....reclaiming Somali assets abroad and paying kickbacks to Hassan's mates.
The Govt contracts awarded to companies Hassan has a financial interest in.
I could go on and on and on......but of course you will insist Hassan is as honest as the day is long.
