And the sad truth is, no one will ever be held accountable. And not only that, as long as the need and dependency for oil & natural resources still exists, some more poor & developing brown nations will be invaded and destroyed by greedy Western powers directly and indirectly.

Re: How Iraq was destroyed
At the very least, Obama should have sent Cheney and Rumsfeld to the Hague to stand trial.
Then again Obama was going to do some pretty shady business himself, so I guess that would set a bad precedent for himself.

Not in this lifetime. Not a single of the old drum beaters for those wars will ever stand trial because, as you said, even thinking to do such a thing will open a can of worms to the point where a lot of people will find themselves in front the Hague.
This old BBC interview of Noam Chomsky hits the head on the nail about the Iraq war:

I recommend watching especially the third video, Maliki lost the previous Iraqi election but just had the winners thrown in prison
Re: How Iraq was destroyed
Mayb the new Somali chief justice at the Hague could issue an indictment for all those responsible. That would be a step in the right direction.
And as for Iraq, the country was never united to begin with. You had 20 different ethnic groups, sects and people that were kept together by a dictator. If you take him out, then everything falls apart.
