Anyone suspected of supporting the ONLF is killed, tortured, livestock looted, and the sanctity of their women violated. This atrocity also happened in Gaashaamo, Buuhoodle, Bookh, Wardheer, and many other places. These are paratroops militia who are carrying out attacks against anyone who does not tow the line, and they are composed of all Somali clans who settle in the Ogaden/kililka shanaad.

Somalis love to claim that everyone is part of that nasty paramilitary unit, as a way to excuse their crimes, but the notion that it's a multiclan force is far from the truth. Liyu Police is predominantly Ogaden and 95% Absame. Even in regions where the Ogaden do not settle like Shiinile, the forces stationed there are Ogaden.

They use this paramilitary force to settle historical scores with other clans. In the case of Gaashaamo, the elders pleaded to have their own force that could secure the district but the K5 leadership denied their request because another armed Somali clan would jeopardize their ''power''. This lead to repression and clashes. Today there's an Ethiopian garrison just outside Gaashaamo and the Liyu police don't come to Gaashaamo because the sub clan they fought also live in SL and they threatened to use their muscle and aid their family in Ethiopia if the Ethiopians don't resolve the problems.

MRC has NOTHING to do with Islam? Why would the people at the coast demand for a muslim Ideology when they lead when it comes to sex tourism, homosexuality and drug abuse? Furthermore, there are very many non-muslims at the coast.

What have they done to make them an illegal group? The interviews mention no illegal acts, except for wanting to separate due to underfunding/neglect by the government who've yet to even invite them to talks. Kenyan government is beyond incompetent if this is how they treat the legitimate concerns of their own citizens.

Mombassa has countless tourists every year who finish their safaris there, the Swahili get no schools or funding for their kids in return for their hard work in keeping the place peaceful and prosperous...Its better than Nairobi for history, beauty and culture. Coastal people are the 'friendly locals' that visitors talk about, they are the backbone of Kenya's tourism and fishing industry, the government is doing them a great disservice. They will never do what Al Shabaab do, they don't have it in them. I hope they don't get dragged in because it will be the excuse the USA, Europe et al need to fully invade East Africa...it will be worse than the Middle East.

And where do they take all this money? You display a lack of knowledge when you talk about "getting schools" and funding for their kids. How many public schools in Kenya were built by the government? The Kenyan model of building public schools depends on the effort of the Locals and the Religious institutions. In every street in the coast you'll get a Madrassa and a Mosque. While Christians will Build a Church, and a school - and sometimes a clinic.

The areas that were the first to receive Christianity were the ones that have a lot of schools. And where there was rivalry between Churches, you'll have more schools - like in Kissi. Or in Kiambu, where protestant churches ganged up to Build Alliance High School after the Catholic Church built Mang'u high school. this is the same thing happening in Tanzania. People should start taking responsibilities for their actions and stop blaming others as if they are kids.

Northern leaders want refugees deported, says camps being used as Al Shabaab training ground

Garissa, Kenya: Political leaders in Northern region have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to repatriate with immediate effect all refugees taking refuge in the country, since the camps have become a recruiting and planning ground for Al-Shabaab.

22 political leaders from the region led by Majority leader in the national assembly Aden Duale, said it’s time the President takes a bold step and orders the sending of refugees who have been blamed for constant terror attacks back home. Duale said United Nations should look for alternative locations for refugees inside Somalia, adding that terrorists’ elements were using the camps as their planning and recruiting ground. “We are ready to change the law in regards to the repatriation of refugees, we are telling the President that northern leaders are fully supporting the government in the fight against terror elements,” he said. “It’s very unfortunate that 147 innocent students lost their lives at the hands of terrorist gangs. This terrorists pretend to spare Muslims in all their attacks in Kenya, while at the same time they have been killing tens of thousands of Somali/Muslim in Somalia,” said Garissa township lawmaker.

The leaders while addressing a public rally at Garissa primary school ground, asked locals to flush out Al-Shabaab sympathizers in their midst so as to stop killing of fellow Kenyans, while at the same time appealing to the religious leaders to preach against what Al-Shabaab is doing.

Nope...all built by Christian charities, cattle farmers did not shit this money. These schools are sub par any way, they just sing hymns all day and practice scary christian rituals that west abandoned but relive in the '3rd world.' They always have short skirts as the uniform to deter Muslims from joining. Muslim kids can't join them due to these restrictions and no Muslims are doing the same for them. Gaalo will build whatever it takes for Christianity to thrive, it's a business arm for them. We need to start building more schools in Muslim regions, they should convert the Madrassas to Muslim Faith comprehensives.

Gedo___the schools are sub-par? How did you know that they sing hymns all day if you never attended any? Alliance Girls High School, Precious Blood Riruta, Loreto High School - these are all Church girl schools that children stay up all night dreaming to go to. Can you tell me any "good" school in Kenya that you know of? They were either started by the White folk before 1963, or by a Church. Not a single public high school has been started by the Muslim community that appears among the top 100 schools in Kenya. I would understand why Somali Muslims may have this difficulty; what excuse do the Muslims in coast province have?

Rituals? Unfortunately, once more, you are relying on what you've been taught to believe. Education is my forte and if there's one topic that one would find it hard to distort when I'm present

How many children will attend these schools? They can dream, but the top few schools can only teach a few and its the same for most rich countries in Africa. Kenya has a population of 45.3 million and you're talking about ten good schools at the most and decent university. The rest of Kenya are taught by nuns in tin shacks who only know a good tune.
