Central State of Somalia have no ports.
This state is going to be the least productive federal state going forward. Before some one brings Hobyo and Xarardheere , these are not ports.

Xamar?
This is not a seperate country, where they would pay high taxs. Its just another state in the nation. It doesn't need a port.
Hobyo and others can be small ports, where the minor things pass through and major shipments on the road from Xamar.
What's with Somali's and ports. We do not import nor export a lot, and we have no landlocked nation to use as a client. So there is no need for major ports everywhere. Xamar, Kismayo, Bosaso are enough.
Cener and southwest do not need one at the moment.

Re: Central State of Somalia have no ports.
Otherbrother has a point, Somalia under normal circumstances will need one or two ports max. You can build as many ports as you want but they will not be commercially viable.

^ Useless waste of money. This is the problem with africa. Investing in the wrong kind of infrastructure.
Building a port before a state of the art hospital? School? University? Power station or energy generation? Pointless!
They should not waste money and use xamar's ports. Develop the road instead, maybe a short train line before this.
African's will never learn.

Do you even know how expensive is to build an asphalt road let alone rail way ?
A basic seaport is relatively cheap to build and it has high investment returns. People of central regions are tired using
Bosaso and Xamar ports and business men from the region have decided to tap into the lucrative port business.

They can open a small port, and use Mogadishu Port.

Exactly. They hardly have money and they wanna waste it on a small port.GIJaamac wrote:Otherbrother wrote:^ Useless waste of money. This is the problem with africa. Investing in the wrong kind of infrastructure.

And no it will not have a return, its not as populated as the other regions and cannot supply the busy areas nor xabash. Bosaso, kismayo and Xamar and enough for the nation, they export the livestock and produce.
Central state has no farms, nor population.
Healthcare - Education - Energy - Good infrastructure is how you build a nation or state. Keep the people alive, educate them and create a workforce and energy and infrastructure to work on and with.
Somali's have no vision. A road is expensive but needed. A good logistics service and thats all.
Xamar has the poplulation to use their ports in banadir and the shabelles and Bay. Bosaso ships livestock and supplies PL and some parts of SSC.
What will this port do? Jack shit.

Central is useless, main reason HG are headed south to LS and areas. There is nothing in Mudug or galguduud.

Re: Central State of Somalia have no ports.
Ports are always viable commercially no matter what. They are sunk costs and incrediably profitable for any adminstration.
The problem for Central State is that the costs would be overwhelming. Hobyo and Xarardheere are encircled by coral reef up to a mile into the ocean. Dredging all that coral for an approach path for ships would be crazy expensive.
It is not something that can be done by the community.

Dude what's with the hate ? You mad that you don't know how to dig your own wells while other people are building seaports ?
Mudug, galgaduud & Hiiraan have the biggest livestock numbers in Somalia and 80 % of Bosaso's livestock exports are from those regions.
Those who are investing in this port will be filthy rich in few years time.
FYI Central regions are filled natural resources unlike your wasteland.

Hiirran is closer to xamar linked by a road. So I doubt they would use Central port.GIJaamac wrote:Otherbrother wrote:Central is useless, main reason HG are headed south to LS and areas. There is nothing in Mudug or galguduud.![]()

Where is your evidence for your claim of the largest livestock numbers?
I don't doubt rich, but useful infrastructure is different. Akon's lighting africa thing wil make him richer, it may not benifit the people due to debt and taxes.
Mad? Nope. Your mad for taking digs, im talking about the topic of the thread.
But if you must know, Isaaq people can and do dig wells. and Berbera port > others. As your beloved SFG calls it "Somali's top resource".

Re: Central State of Somalia have no ports.
Wrong. Everything needs to recover its start up costs and break even. There is no good infrastructure to the areas of the ports. No mass exporting. More qualifies ports not far away (Bosasso/Xamar). No farms to export produce. It will be a little Jetty Port. Which is useful no doubt, but nothing like them pics suggest.thegoodshepherd wrote:Ports are always viable commercially no matter what.
