Ariel view of Africa's Biggest Dam

Post by WaaliCas »

Ethiopia's Grand Renaissance Dam also known locally as Abay Dam (Blue Nile Dam) is the biggest dam in the African continent. It is nearing complete and Ethiopia has already begun building powerlines to neighboring states as it plans to become major exporter of electricity by 2020. Roughly about ten dams are currently under construction.

The Isaacs are always taking part in whatever great project across the continent and beyond like these Isaac Ethiopian investors (Abay Dam investors). After Kenya and Djibouti, the next powerlines will hit Hargeisa thanks to investor Omar Aideed Ahmed.

What a great news. :blessed:

It's a major step for SL in general and Hargeisa in specific.
It would attract far more investments and capitals flow than ever!
No business will grow in city where a 1kb of electricity is worth 1$ !!!!
Not to mention the positive impact on the lives of locals where they can save more money and spend it
on consumption (non-Qaat products of course) Qaat should be banned though, or else it's better to sell the electricity
to the public on its current rates.

However, it should not be limited to Hargiesa.
Borama, Hargiesa and Burco are the 3 largest cities in SL, more than 50% of the population of the whole country
is in these cities, so it's a very lucrative and viable investment considering the existing potential market.
Plus, their relative proximity to the Ethiopian borders which would cut down the cost and make it even more
investment friendly and a save choice .

Preferably, a co-op type of company should be established ASAP. Such guaranteed projects MUST be nationalized and
owned by Landers. With proper government reforms, the return on investment and taxes would give a substantial boost to our economy in matter of 5-7 years.

Rambie,

Yes the SL gov can and should regulate the industry as it should for all industries but it has nothing to do with this deal. It is private investment between Isaac wealthy men and the Government of Ethiopia specifically Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPC).

The powerlines from Ethiopia to SL will be financed by Omar Aideed Ahmed. He made his money in Djibouti. He owns the Hargeisa threatre too, which seems to never finish. I hope his powerlines are not the same

He is multi-millionaire...I remember when he donated about $3 million to Salahley road and over 20 dump trucks and bulldozers.

On the Djibouti side, it will be imported by Ahmed Osman Guelleh and his brothers (Geele Arab boys).
