The Mig-29SMT, Mig-35 and SU-27 variants are more than a match for F15/16's but I doubt the majority of Russian pilots are as good as the average American pilot, therefore I think the US would win even if they had equal numbers of aircraft since it all comes down to the skill of the individual fighter-pilots in a dog-fight instead of the aircraft. Btw, the F-22 is not substandard, it is actually the best superiority fighter in the world right now but I agree the F35 is absolute rubbish.

I like your optimism but we don't need an airforce.
We need a fleet of short take off cargo planes and artillery can do everything an aircraft can do when attacking ground targets.
Our economy can support this right now and with a little tweaking we can realistically increased the strength and capabilities of jsl 500%

The common perception was that Russian equipment was of low quality and required allot of maintenance,
This is why the west was shocked when Russian planes achieved sortie rates that were thought impossible by NATO,
maintenence time was shorter than NATO too, and Russian planes performed accuracy that was also considered impossible without smart bombs.

The misconception about quality of training is the same,
even i was fooled by propaganda, even when i was reading about this stuff since i was 13.
When the media tells you something 24/7 365 days a year for several years, your brain gives in eventually and accepts it as fact , even when you know its wrong.
So it was a pleasant surprise , the Russian performance ,
it surprised everyone...

One thing you should know is that Russian flight times of pilots is getting longer and will soon be longer than NATO standard,
While NATO is reducing flight time of pilots severly,
Soon NATO pilots will be getting half the hours of Russian pilots if things continue as they are due to budget cuts, in a few years.
and flight hours is an indication of level training.


and in my opinion whats more important than level of training is doctrine.
US doctrine is wrong for 2016, and depends on everything going right everytime.
In a real war shit hits the fan, and there is chaos.

The Europeans train for choas but the US are famous for not..
Even their equipment says i dont give a damn about real life.

The M1 abrams tank for example has a god damned jet turbine for an engine, a gas guzzler.
While everone else has multifuel diesel engines.
you can literally smash into a supermarket with your tank, gather up all the vegetable oil, and refill your tank with the stuff,
and it will work fine.

In real life your supplies are going to be hit,
you will have massive jamming, your equipment will fail, you cannot talk to your troops properly, guided weapons dont work well,
sattelites drop from the sky like hail.

you need to train for that shit, the US does not.

While Russian Doctrine is Ideal for this scenrio..

and Russian millitary thinking is the perfect mating of East and West.
