I think we need to encourage Khat growers homegrown, they will be allowed to plant during heavy reason seasons that is 6 months everyyear and kenyans can exmport the rest of the year, win win situation, plus khat should give us some bussiness leverageMarsinQorahay wrote:There is maryan jaamac plantations in marerey made by cismaan caato crewWarsheekh wrote:Somalis are fkin xoolo wallah. Brother, we have a great land for khat in jubboyinka but to get the best qualities of khat takes a long period of time and we are speaking over 100 years, in DDSI and Somaliland people has started making khat plantations but those khat does not have the same quality and effect as the ones in oromo regions since they has been growing khat for over a long time.blood wrote:I think we need to encourage Khat growers homegrown, they will be allowed to plant during heavy reason seasons that is 6 months everyyear and kenyans can exmport the rest of the year, win win situation, plus khat should give us some bussiness leverageMarsinQorahay wrote:There is maryan jaamac plantations in marerey made by cismaan caato crewWarsheekh wrote:Somalis are fkin xoolo wallah. sxb.i dont get it,if i plant a khat tree now it will take 100 years to have leaves miyaa,i dont think so,why dont we just import 50 meru growers since they are experts and teach us to grow the both higly prized and cursed tree.what kind of soil does it need? water? how much? how long does it grow?
it is never too late, our next generation will benefit if some wise traders start doing it.

benefits of homegrown khat
-quality can be enhanced easily
-thousands of jobs created
-saving hard earned foreign cash\
-entertainment for the youth when cheap khat is available, less likely to join terrorists isis.
the local khat industry will invest in dental health plus the healthy effects of khat is slow which means you can chew for 40 years and feel fine.
-Meeru farmers will give the right expertise needed and i am sure if MSB invested in khat today somalia would have been different place.hopw thw gov TAPS Into this lucrative bussiness

we need to grow our own drug-curse.
from the renowned vice.com
Khat is a longstanding part of Somali culture, and people familiar with the plant in Yemen and Ethiopia jump to defend it as a recreational social lubricant. But it’s not so benign in Somaliland anymore. Hassan’s business is so good because khat has filled the temporal and psychological void of mass unemployment. But there is a predatory angle to this as well: historically khat has been pushed on the Somalis, like in the 1960s Ethiopian War, to get them addicted, make them lazy, and break their wallets. Now Ethiopian growers flood the market, realizing they can make more money on khat than coffee, piggybacking (consciously or unconsciously) on Somaliland’s unemployment.
This chronic unemployment and ready supply has broken down traditional limitations on khat use, which now pushes 60 to 80 percent usage among men (many are probably still limited and conscientious users, but there is a serious abuse epidemic in that soft number). The explosion in usage leads to public health crises, some as minor as tooth staining, but most major like liver damage, fiber blockages, involuntary ejaculations, and impotence. Major employers now deny jobs to khat users, leading to cycles of chronic abuse and unemployment

Re: Outrage as Kenya's president approves 1 billion shillings to Khat farmers.
The Khat business in Kenya from top to bottom is owned by Somali's whom are currently waging vicious business war against each other, it's internal HAG, it used to be dominated by the NFD Garre whom not only supplied the khat but also poor private jets, 2 years ago they hiked the prices to the jets to drive other HAG out of business, most prominent dealer is a Sacad lady multi millionaire very well knownWarsheekh wrote:Somalis are fkin xoolo wallah. If they stopped chewing they would fuck up kenyas economy.
These greedy bastards then took it a step further and literally barred others from using the planes, as a result tit for tat happened, HAG blockade Mogadishu, whole of Galmudug they control from them and allied with Kikuyu company that provides these Jets which they now use, initially outside of Tax paid, the Kikuyu got pittance from the Khat trade, everything including the land was owned by Somali's, but due to this rift they have become very rich by providing 20 or Jet's to ship the Khaat everywhere even outside of Somalia.
The Garre are now crying everywhere as their businesses took a massive hit, it's the prime reason why she finished off building OSHACO airport as even Puntland got involved, because Gaalkacayo only had the dusty Kacaan airport Afweyne built for them and therefore they were able to land their planes their, but the Khaat now coming through OSHACO is more then twice as cheap (no ridiculous insurance levied by Galmudug)
That's why you saw Gaas maamul burning khaat coming from Koonfur Gaalkacayo, because all their business people are buying due to the cheapness, they still do currently and they are big customers, this whole shit is about $$$$, business people sxb don't care about qabyaalad particularly the HAG are even worse, it's for the defeatist and broke they tell you
