Date Palm Trees Gabiley?

Post by WardenOfTheNorth »

Anyone here really knowledgeable on agriculture? I want to know if it is possible to grow Date palm trees in Arabsiyo like is the climate suitable.I have huge farming lands on the outskirts of Arabsiyo I inherited from my grandfather! I don't plan on making money but instead it will be used for charity.

The first place date palms were grown in somaliland in large quantities was In the town of bulaxar on gubanka coast and I found out they also grow it in area called biyo dhacay in degmada ceel afweyn, sanaag.

Jsl gov planted over 130 date palm plants in bulaxar last year the original date palm farms were neglected after the war.

First video was good! Maybe I should do 75/25.Once the trees starts to make full yields I would sell 75% and 25% will be given to the poor in Gabiley region and Hargeisa or where ever there is drought in Somaliland/Somalia.

Also does anyone know if planting these trees will be beneficial to the environment or will harm it?

According to FAO the limits of date palm cultivation extends through entire North Somalia, this is however not a ecological limit.

I think all northern gobols from guban to ogo to hawd zones should cultivate date palms.

Date palm trees can be grown all over galbeed and even some parts of the east. It's not like the olive tree which needs to be right next to the coast.

Majority of date palm trees are grown inland.Arizona/Texas are great examples!
