Badweyn (Large sea)

Post by JSLHistorian »

Interesting. It seems Ali Khalif Galaydh's folks (Bah Ararsame) lived far up north in the past(100 years ago).
Badweyn is located on the road between Oog and Bohol.

At Badwein, in the centre of that part of the Nogal Valley which is occupied by the Arasama sub-tribe, we discovered extensive
ruins of an ancient city, and close by a large tank quarried out of the gypsum rock."
Expedition to the Nogal Valley
Lieutenant E. J. Swayne
Published in London, by John Murray, 1893

It could be Ahmed Garaad or Garaad Mohamed (Baharasame) they are both Ararsame. I would say it's Ahmed Garaad of Buhoodle & Hawd.

Take a guess what catastrophy happened around a 100 years ago? That forced a whole clan to evacuate the whole territory they lived in! And l lose 1/3 of their land, 1/2 of their population. If u guessed right, That's what happened.

So are you saying Ararsame was the mum of both Ahmed Garaad and Mohamed Garaad? That would be odd then how only
one sub clan retained that name.

Yeah it is, I tried to find out too. I was told by a Guleed Garaad (Barkad) elder that Guled And Cali Garaad have the same mom, and Ahmed and Mohamed have the same mom. Later I heard a part of the Ahmed Garad are maternally connected to the Bahararsame. So the question is Ararsame the first mom or the second mom.

Very clear breakdown now it makes sense.

PrinceNugaalHawd You are right Rer Hagar is a sub clan of Ararsame. So from my understanding when the Ararsame name alone is
used it means= Rer Hagar & Wacays Adan. Bah Ararsame = Mohamed Garad that is why the distinct "bah" is used.

Yes, my theory is Ararsame was a Lady of the Ahmed Garaad, and was married to Her cousin Garaad Mahamud Jabane (all Bah Ararsame decend from him) son Of Garaad Mahamed.

At that time there was no birkas so the only important places in our land was the places with Wells, lakes and good pasture . Clans used to fiercely fight over such kind of places. An other reason is all Somali clans were expanding southwards no matter if they were defeated in the north or not. Reer hagar may have lost wars against the habarjeclo. but they discovered new territory in wardhee zone with a plenty of wells and pasture and less competition, I believe this new found territories prevented them to return back to the Oogo (cayn) . Otherwise they would have come back and push the habarjeclo back to the guban.

Warya Ducaaysane and Nugaal

Can you guys take your Darood talk to Khaatumo section?

None of us are interested in your reero or who used to piss in this ex-mining field/hole.

If I want to see ex-mining hole, I rather see this one.

Yusuf you are right they discovered new territory too, so new land plus you are safe from the colonist and dervish wars was a good idea..
