Isaaq got a very bad deal back then. Really not fair to get only 19, but they compromised for the sake of SL.

That was a great generation.

The seats were allocated first and then people voted for their chosen candidate.

Isaaq made a big compromise there, they should have gotten at least 27-28.

Isaaq make 55-60% of the Somaliland population sxb, so why are they entitled to 27-28 MPs.

My comment was in reference of what non Isaaq clans received in representation per head.

If you look at the population estimates of Somaliland at the time, you will see that within Isaaq there are 3 subclans that are equal to or larger than Dhulbahante. If they get the same number of MPs per head as Dhulbahante that is 18 MPs for the 3 big Habros alone.

If Isaaq got the same ratio of MPs/head of population to Dhulbahante they would have gotten 21 MPs.

If they got the same ratio of MPs/head of population to Warsangeli they would have gotten 42 MPs!

If they got the same ratio of MPs/head of population to Gadabursi they would have gotten 28 MPs.

Yet they only had 19!

Each and every non Isaaq clan received more representation per head of its population than Isaaq subclans.

It seems more 'fair' back than it's today. Just nice and clean compared to single clan dominated politics we have today.

Isaaq waa baaldi futada ka daloola. How many times they were told the so called usp party didn't contest the election. Only snl and nuf did run .

Read Douglas Hall " Somaliland last year" Douglas Hall was the British governor he monitored the elections, 83k voted, 50k for snl and 30k for nuf, zero vote for the fake party usp.

Snl won 22 mps and nuf 11 mps . Cigaal robbed nuf of 10 mps from nuf and gave 3 from his snl to the none saaqs of usp. Usp basically functioned as junior partner of snl but they didn't contest in the election.

Now please for the last time stop propagating dhulbahante/gedabursi fake narrative of usp.

why are you appeasing those who would gladly see an end to somaliland. you call it single clan dominated politics but we both know isaaq is simply guarding the continued existence of somaliland

Musa,

you called it that, it is not appeasing, when you give other people fair share of the pie.

You want Isaaq dominated Somaliland ? Stop claiming other clans then.

Can't have it both ways
