We need to be proud of our selves...

Post by Maroodijex »

As I read documents and reports from organisations such as the World Bank, UN and EU etc. I am getting a sense that none of these organisation are reallly happy about the progress that Somaliland is making. I read that if they support Somaliland it will basically put the final nail on the Somalia coffin.

So essentially they only provide humanitarian support through international NGOs like Care international, Halo-Trust etc.

Their argument is that, we are an enterprising people and the slightest support will super-charge our country and may even become an economy too good for the rest of the continent. They see with so much obstacles, we have achieved so much.

All said and done, biyo gacmo haaga yaa lagaga dhargaa. The small progress we are making is more sweet than money provided by other countries.

Th years between 2018-2020 will be transformational for Somaliland. A new President will be sworn in. At very long last we'll have our first Oil well spud out. Also projects from Berbera Port to Berbera Corridor will be at full swing. Berbera Cement factory will become operational.

Let me put this into prospective. Since 2012, the weak, lame FGS which essentially only rules few districts of Mogadishu city, received direct budget support in the tune of $700 million dollars.

In 2017 alone they will receive 120 million dollars of free money to spend on Mogadishu alone.

Nin Caydh ka taajiray lama arag, so too these free handouts.

We are better off without it.

Add 1.3 billion for AMISOM and you have yourself a nice round figure of $2 billion.

And guess what, these beggars will continue to spiral further into the abyss, there is no hope for Zoomalia. Even UN officials are not hopeful about any improvements in their situation hence all forecasts amounting to 'more of the same' for Walaweynia.

Ilahay wixi Konfuur siyay wi siyaay. Cidiina diidimayso a little help.

Lakiin ma fiicna inad weliga caydh ku jirtid. The world is different now.

10 years ago if people from so called developed world saw a hungry child, they used to cry and start giving.

Today their common voice is; give them contraceptions.

If SL does something we don't need to put SL and Somalia on the scale.

If one receives something we don't need to either.

Somalia is a neighbor no different than Djibouti or Ethiopia.

Yes the world views you as Somalis, and the world does not want a stable Somali nation that isn't a completely corrupt puppet state, so good luck to you guys in your isolationist mentality.

We are most certainly no isolationist, we are very open to our international partners. We are just independent and no longer part of the shit-show that is Zoomalia.

I actually see problems arising within Somalia about these loans (you better believe some of these handouts aren't free) so if few politicians in xamar took out loans in the name of their country their other regions won't be too happy when it's time to pay out

But the problem with Somaliland and Somalilanders is they always wanna compare themselves to Somalia. Leave them in peace and compare yourselves to developing African states like Botswana and Rwanda

You can't scape it. When you read these documents/reports these EU, UN etc all want to ape Somaliland's achievements. In fact, they want to model a lot of our homegrown solutions and try to replicate it down in Somalia.

So when they are copying our solutions, yet they are not acknowledging it.

I think the reason is because the people who leading us are content with how things are. Everyone, regardless of if they are minister or intellectual.

For example, I have never seen any Somaliland TV jounralist who brings to the table hard questions when interviewing these bigwigs. For example, the Ilig guy from Horn TV did interview UN's Keating and all the questions were so lame. I can be a better journalist than most of them

THe same goes when they are interviewing Somaliland's leaders. All easy questions.
